INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Florida Southern College volleyball team continued its hot start to the 2023 season as the Moccasins improved to 4-0 on the season with a sweep of Central State and a 3-1 victory over UIndy on the opening day of the UIndy Invitational. A major highlight of the day was the Moccasins' first triple-double since 2014 as junior
Kiersten Kraus achieved the feat in the four-set win over the host Greyhounds.

Kraus becomes just the third NCAA Division II student-athlete to achieve a triple-double this season and first Moc to achieve the feat since
Ali Skayhan (2010-14) posted a triple-double versus Tampa during her senior season in 2014.

The Moccasins opened the day versus Central State out of Ohio and won in straight sets, 25-12, 25-15 and 25-14. Graduate student
Elena Djokovic led the way with 12 kills and seven digs while senior
Mackenzie Petermann finished with 10 kills and 11 digs in the win. The both added a block assist while Petermann also had a pair of service aces. Petermann hit an outstanding .588 with not a single hitting error.

Freshman setter
Mary Kate Mulvaney handed out a team-high 21 assists while scooping up five digs. Junior libero
Megan Carron added 10 digs to the effort.

Overall, the Mocs held Central State to a negative hitting percentage for the entire match and hit .341 as a squad, the season-high so far.

In the nightcap versus UIndy, the Mocs won the opening two sets, 25-22, before the Greyhounds took the third 25-22. FSC came out on fire in the fourth and blew past the Greyhounds taking a dominating 25-13 victory to secure the match.

Kraus finished with 10 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs to secure her first triple-double in an FSC uniform. Petermann and junior
Zoe Lowe tied for the team-lead in kills with 11. Petermann added nine digs while Lowe hit .348 for the match. Junior
Madison Fowler just missed out on double-figures with nine kills to go along with a pair of blocks.

Mulvaney once again led the way in assists with 27 while Carron secured the team lead in digs with 18. Djokovic was not far behind with 15 digs and a team-best three solo blocks.

The Mocs once again had a strong offensive outing hitting .257 as a team while holding UIndy to .114.

FSC will be back in action tomorrow as the Mocs wrap up action at the UIndy Invitational. Florida Southern will play a pair of match on the final day including a 9 a.m. tilt against McKendree before facing Notre Dame College at 3 p.m. A pair of wins would mark the best start for FSC since 2015 when the Mocs opened the season 12-0 before suffering their first loss.
