LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida Southern College men's swimming team won its last home meet on Senior Day against Barry University Saturday afternoon at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
The Mocs won nearly every individual event during the meet and celebrated four of our FSC seniors:
Cameron Lai-Harris, Kyle Micallef, Boris Mitev, and
Ludwig Mueller. The Buccaneers, in the program's first year of existence, competed with several athletes in almost all of the events.
Florida Southern opened its meet with the 200 medley relay with a team of
Nino Viallon, Travis Oleson, Micallef, and
Brandon Wilson winning the event in 1:33.03. Event four of the day featured a friendly competition between
Peter Csicsaky and
Clyde Crouse in the 1000 free with Csicsaky winning by event in 9:56.36, 0.18 ahead of Crouse.
In the 200 free,
Thomas Wooldridge won in 1:44.68, and
John Zeiger was the winner for the 100 back in 52.51. A podium sweep in the 100 breast was led by Oleson (58.36), Mueller (58.83), and Mitev (1:01.78). The next top swimmers were Viallon in the 200 fly, Micallef in the 50 free, Wilson in the 100 free, and
Nicko Peristeridis in the 200 breast. Wooldridge won his second event of the day with the 500 free as Micallef took the top spot in the 100 fly in 51.15. The final event of the day was the 200 free relay with a team of Micallef, Mueller, Mitev, and Lai-Harris winners in 1:25.97.
The Mocs will wrap up the regular season on the road with meets against Nova Southeastern on Jan. 19 and Lynn University on Jan. 20. The Sunshine State Conference Championships will take place Feb. 14-18 in Ocala, Fla.
