LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team won its last home meet on Senior Day against Barry University Saturday afternoon at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
The Mocs won nearly every individual event on the day and celebrated eight seniors in a pre-meet ceremony:
Brooke Brennan, Allie Brinton, Morgan Champagne, Jazzy Hoffmann, Teagan Michalek, Emily Peck, Stephanie Suarez, and
Janie Davis. The Buccaneers, in the program's inaugural season, competed well with a few event wins on the day.
Florida Southern opened the meet with a team of Michalek,
Alizee Pelletier, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Ainsley Bennett winning the 200 medley relay in 1:49.85. FSC won the next several events, beginning with
Olivia Miles in the 1000 free (10:42.09). Bennett won the next women's even in the 200 free in a time of 1:55.77, as did Michalek in the 100 back (1:00.03), and Brinton in the 200 fly (2:10.50).
At the midpoint of the meet, Sikes on the 50 free in 25.02, with Hoffmann the top time in the 100 free in 54.63. Another event among teammates was the 200 back with Peck and Michalek head-to-head. Peck ended as the winner in 2:13.59. The final individual event winners included Bennett in the 500 free (5:10.99) and Sikes in the 100 fly (58.70). The final relay event went to the Mocs with a team of Hoffmann, Davis, Bennett, and Sikes winning the 200 free relay.
The Mocs will wrap up the regular season on the road with meets against Nova Southeastern on Jan. 19 and Lynn University on Jan. 20. The Sunshine State Conference Championships will take place Feb. 14-18 in Ocala, Fla.
