FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team was unable to upset No. 3 Nova Southeastern University in a conference dual meet at the NSU Aquatic Complex Friday afternoon.
The Moccasins lost in team scoring 185-76 against the defending NCAA champions with all but three of the events in favor of the Sharks.
Alizee Pelletier led FSC with event wins in the 100 and 200 breast and
Elizabeth Sikes repeated her season-long success in the butterfly with an event win in the 100 fly.
The meet opened with the 200 medley relay as a team of
Teagan Michalek, Pelletier, Sikes, and
Phoebe Reid finished third in 1:47.92. In the 1000 free,
Olivia Miles took third in 10:37.92, and
Ainsley Bennett second in the 200 free in a time of 1:55.62. For the 100 back, Michalek was just outside the top spot (second/59.71), before Pelletier took her first event win with a 1:04.75 time in the 100 breast. Sikes rounded out the first part of the meet with third in the 200 fly (2:06.32).
Unable to take a podium spot in the next few events, FSC took two of the next three events as Pelletier finished first in the 200 breast in 2:21.12 and Sikes first in the 100 fly in 57.55.
Allie Brinton joined Sikes on the podium with third (58.81). Miles and
Vanda Voroshazy rounded out the individual events with second and third respectively in the 200 IM. The final event, the 400 free relay, had a team of Bennett, Sikes, Reid, and Brinton third in a time of 3:38.73.
The Mocs stay in South Florida to face Lynn University tomorrow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the McCusker Pool Complex.
