BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team dropped a narrow contest to end the regular season against conference foe Lynn University on Saturday afternoon at the McCusker Pool Complex.
The Moccasins ended the regular season with a close dual meet, down by just 10 points in a Fighting Knights 136-126 win on the road. Despite the loss, FSC had several event wins, led again by
Alizee Pelletier and
Olivia Miles with two event wins each.
Florida Southern dropped the opening event as the 400 medley relay but quickly found first with first and second place in the 1000 free behind Miles (10:43.53) and
Allie Brinton (10:56.50).
Ainsley Bennett (2:01.60) and
Ella Sieber (2:02.81) then took second and third respectively in the 200 free. For the 100 back,
Teagan Michalek represented the Mocs with second in a time of 1:00.68.
Pelletier won her first event in the 100 breast ahead of the Lynn competition in a time of 1:07.32. She went on to win the 200 breast with a time of 2:27.37. Sikes won the 200 fly in 2:06.48 with Brinton in third (2:10.25).
Phoebe Reid took third in the 50 free (25.81), with another podium majority in the 200 back with Bennett and Michalek in second and third.
FSC had a podium sweep in the 500 free, led by Miles' second event win (5:15.40) with Sieber and
Angelina Fazzino in second and third. The final individual events were the 100 fly with Sikes and Brinton top three, and the 400 IM with Bennett, Miles, and
Vanda Voroshazy atop the podium. Lynn went on to win the 200 free relay and seal the conference win as team of FSC finished second.
The Mocs turn their attention to the Sunshine State Conference Championships on Feb. 14-18 at the Fast Center in Ocala, Fla.
