Florida Southern men's basketball opens the 2024-25 campaign as the 19
th-ranked program as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 2024-25 Division II Coaches Preseason Poll Tuesday (Oct. 29).

The Moccasins make their 17
th appearance in the NABC Preseason Poll, the first since the 2021-22 season when Florida Southern was slotted 23rd in the ranking. With the new campaign set to start on Nov. 2 inside the George W. Jenkins Field House with the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic, all 10 teams participating in the classic are ranked in the top 25 or received votes in the coaches' preseason poll.

The teams that faced off in a classic national championship game last March will head into the upcoming 2024-25 season as the top two teams in the NABC Division II preseason coaches' poll, as Minnesota State and Nova Southeastern sit atop the list as the new season gets underway. Minnesota State, who won its first national title on a last-second shot to win the game, edged the Sharks in the preseason poll, with West Texas A&M in at no. 3.
MSU Moorhead (4), Dallas Baptist (5), California (Pa.) (6), Gannon (7), Colorado School of Mines (8), North Georgia (9), and Washburn (10), making up the rest of the top 10.

No. 1 Minnesota State faces No. 19 Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern takes on No. 7 Gannon to open the year. No. 9 North Georgia will take on (RV) St. Thomas Aquinas as No. 22 Fort Lewis plays (RV) Point Loma. The first matchup at Florida Southern College as part of the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic is (RV) Carson-Newman and (RV) Lake Superior State.
