ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Florida Southern College men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Wednesday evening falling to Eckerd College in the final game of the regular-season in Sunshine State Conference play, 2-0.
The Moccasins (3-7-4, 1-7-2 SSC) totaled five shots with just one goal from
Wade Bohde while the Tritons (3-10-1, 2-7-0 SSC) had seven shots with four being on goal.
The first goal of the game came early from Eckerd's August Nygard who found the back of the net in the 8th minute to give the Tritons an early 1-0 lead. Florida Southern and Eckerd traded shots for the entire first half but the Mocs were not able to tie the game and head into the halftime breakdown by one.
The second half looked similar to the first as both teams exchanged shots this time with shots on goal for both teams but the Mocs keeper
Lasse Dettmer jumped up for the save in the 65th minute. In the 77th minute, the Tritons added an insurance goal as Luciano Rodriguez scored to take a 2-0 lead.
With time dwindling down Bohde's first shot goes just left in the 83rd minute and then follows with a high shot that was saved by the Tritons keeper Aidan Leak right before the time ran out in the 90th minute.
Florida Southern finished the season with 12 goals and 160 shots with 55 of the shots being on goal.
Darcy Moffat led the way scoring nine goals to earn 18 points with
Sonny Albert,
Sander Trevor, and
Matthew Male scoring the remaining goals. For assists
Felix Tonne led the year with three assists, while Albert, Trevor, and
Ruben Linden all totaled one.
In goal for the Mocs, time was spent between two keepers as
Joe O'Shaughnessy started the year with seven starts totaling 644 minutes and earning 22 saves. Dettmer finished the season also with seven starts totaling 615 minutes for 21 saves.
