FT. PIERCE, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team finished the 2024 calendar schedule with a dual meet against Indian River State College on Friday afternoon at the Anne Wilder Aquatics Complex.
In team scoring, the Moccasins lost their dual meet, 187-75. The IRSC women's team has won 46 NJCAA national championships, dominating some of the best teams in the nation.
The meet opened with the 200 medley relay as a team of
Zoë Celi, Alizee Pelletier, Elizabeth Sikes, and
Sam Hunter finished third at 1:48.53. In the 1000 free,
Olivia Miles was second in 10:45.06, followed by
Anya Bogdanova in 10:54.23. For the 200 free,
Ainsley Bennett was second in 1:58.13, with
Phoebe Reid in 2:00.21. Celi had the best time for FSC in the 100 back with a third-place finish of 1:00.34, followed by
Alexa Paredes in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.17, for third place.
Sikes placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.11, and Hunter was second in the 50 free (24.82). Hunter followed in the 100 free with the best FSC time of 54.06, for fourth place. Celi repeated in the 200 back with third in a time of 2:12.31, with second and third in the 200 breaststroke by Paredes (2:29.27) and Reid (2:30.16). Bennett had another second-place finish, with a 5:13.58 time in the 500 free, with Sikes in third of the 100 fly in a time of 58.13.
The final individual event of the meet was the 200 IM as Bennet placed second in 2:11.34. The last event of the day was the 400 free relay with a time of Reid, Sikes, Hunter, and Bennett finishing in third with 3:38.05.
The Mocs will take the rest of the break off and return to Lakeland for the home opener on Jan. 6 against Westminster College at 1 p.m. at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
