Four Moccasins Selected in CSC Academic All-District Volleyball Teams

Chambers, Fowler, Kraus, and Petermann selected as Academic All-District

LAKELAND, Fla. – The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams for 2024 have been released with four volleyball players selected from Florida Southern College.
 
Caroline Chambers, Madison Fowler, Kiersten Kraus, and Mackenzie Petermann were all selected for the Academic All-District team. This is the first selection for Kraus, with Chambers, Fowler, and Petermann repeating from last year's list.
 
Chambers earned her second CSC Academic All-District honor in another great year for the Mocs. The graduate student appeared in 104 sets with 28 matches played. The Lakeland native was named the SSC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 7 after a great series against Rollins and Embry-Riddle. Representing the Mocs as the sole SSC weekly award winner for volleyball, Chambers finished 2024 with a career-high 391 digs (3.76 per set), adding 129 assists and 35 service aces. The team leader in digs the last two years, Chambers completes her FSC career with 283 sets played and over 800 digs.
 
Fowler made her second appearance on the CSC Academic All-District Team after recently being selected for the All-SSC Third Team for the second time in her career. She ranked 11th in the conference in hitting percentage (.290) while taking ninth in blocks (1.05). The Detroit, Mich. native, led the Mocs in all three blocking categories including being the lone Moc to surpass 100 blocks on the season. She finished 2024 with 31 solo blocks and 75 block assists for a total of 106 blocks. She also finished fourth on the team in kills per set at 1.90. The senior tallied at least one block in every match this season including a high of nine versus Purdue Northwest. She posted double-digit kills eight times including a high of 18 versus Palm Beach Atlantic. She had just one error versus PBA and finished with a .500 hitting percentage.
 
Kraus had her first CSC Academic All-District selection with another solid performance in 2024. She had 103 sets played in 28 matches this season, as one of the Mocs' leaders on the court. The senior had 167 kills with 297 assists, adding another 15 service aces. Her assists were second-best on the team and ranked top five in total kills and kills per set. A native of Neenah, Wis., Kraus had a season-best 14 kills and 22 assists for 18 points in the win over West Florida. She had 75.0 blocks, third-most on the team.
 
Petermann earned her third consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor, joining Danielle Higginbotham as the second Moccasin with three such selections in their career for the volleyball program. The graduate student wrapped up her FSC career with another great year in 2024 with 103 sets played in 28 matches. She had 207 kills, 2.01 per set, for third-most on the team this season. Offensively, she added 22 assists and 31 service aces and averaged 2.50 points per set. A native of Richmond Hill, Ga., Petermann is one of 10 Moccasins to be in the 1,000 kill/1,000 dig club, finishing her career with 1342 kills and 1051 digs, ranked in the top 10 of nearly all offensive categories in program history.
 
The 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 14, 2025.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
