OCALA, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team opened the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Championships with a third-place finish in the 800 free relay Wednesday night at the F.A.S.T. Center.
Florida Southern finished third in team scoring as well with 46 points after day one. Nova Southeastern University sits in first with 62 points and the University of Tampa in second with 52 points. A team of
Vanda Voroshazy, Allie Brinton, Ainsley Bennett, and
Olivia Miles earned a podium spot in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:33.71. In the B final,
Ella Sieber, Angelina Fazzino, Janie Davis, and
Emma Sammons finished second in their heat and 10
th overall with a time of 7:48.33. The 800 free relay was the sole event of night one at the conference meet.
The Mocs will have day two of the championships tomorrow, beginning with prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m. The events scheduled for Thursday include the 200 IM, 50 free, 1000 free, and the 200 medley relay.
