OCALA, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's swimming team finished day two of the Sunshine State Conference Championships in fourth place overall Thursday night at the F.A.S.T. Center.
The Mocs sit in fourth place with 144 points, behind Nova Southeastern (296 points), Tampa (231 points), and Lynn (151 points) in the top three.
A great time in the morning 1000 free heats led to
Olivia Miles in eighth overall with a time of 10:18.94. In the 200 IM A final,
Vanda Voroshazy finished seventh overall with a time of 2:05.84, and freshman
Ainsley Bennett was right behind in eighth with a time of 2:06.78. For the B final,
Alizee Pelletier finished 15
th overall in 2:08.00.
Jazzy Hoffmann was the sole Moccasin in the 50 free and she finished eighth with 23.64 (B standard) before a team of
Teagan Michalek, Pelletier,
Elizabeth Sikes, and Hoffmann finished fourth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:43.88.
For the morning session, Florida Southern Miles led the team in times as
Ella Sieber finished with a time of 10:34.17,
Allie Brinton in 10:39.07, and
Angelina Fazzino in 10:40.80 to wrap up the top 10 in the morning heats.
In the 200 IM prelims, Voroshazy had the best Moccasin time in 2:06.45, just ahead of Bennett (2:07.09) to make an A final appearance. Pelletier had the last B finals time in the 200 IM with a 2:08.99 finish. Other top 30 times in the morning included
Anya Bogdanova (2:13.43) and
Stephanie Suarez (2:13.82). A B standard time and only A final FSC representative in the 50 free was Hoffmann with her prelims time of 23.80. Just outside the B final cut was
Phoebe Reid in 24.42.
The Mocs will take place on day three of the conference meet with the 100 fly, 400 IM, and 200 free prelims beginning at 10 a.m. The finals will occur at 6 p.m. with the same events and evening 400 medley relay. All events will take place at the F.A.S.T. Center in Ocala.
