OCALA, Fla. – Alizee Pelletier set a new program in the 100 breaststroke to highlight day four of the Sunshine State Conference Championships for the Florida Southern College women's swimming team at the F.A.S.T. Center Saturday night.
The Mocs remained in third place overall after day four with 378 points. Nova Southeastern University remained in first with 775 points and the University of Tampa in second with 620 points. Pelletier set a new standard for the 100 breast event with a prelims time of 1:02.49, 0.01 seconds faster than the previous mark.
The first evening finals event was the 500 free as
Ainsley Bennett continued to shine in her freshman season with a sixth-place finish of 4:57.54, a top freshman time in program history.
Olivia Miles represented the Mocs in the B final with second in the consolation final of 5:01.68 and
Ella Sieber in 14
th overall with a time of 5:06.36. Bennett and Miles' times were good for B standard cuts.
For the 100 back finals,
Teagan Michalek finished eighth in 56.25 as the sole Moccasin in the event. Echoing her 100 breaststroke program record in prelims, Pelletier finished second with a time of 1:02.65 for the podium spot. In the B final,
Stephanie Suarez finished seventh in the consolation final with a time of 1:06.71. The 200 fly had great times by
Elizabeth Sikes and
Allie Brinton as they went back-to-back for fifth and sixth-place finishes. Sikes finished her 200 fly in 2:02.79 and Brinton in 2:03.54. In the B final,
Vanda Voroshazy was fourth in her heat with 2:05.56.
The final event of the evening was the 200 free relay which a team of
Jazzy Hoffmann,
Phoebe Reid, Bennett, and Sieber finished fourth in 1:35.45.
In the morning prelims, Bennett had the best FSC time in the 500 free with a time of 4:59.57 for seventh-best in prelims. Miles was just outside the A final with a time of 5:03.51, as was Sieber with a time of 5:09.41.
Angelina Fazzino (5:12.61) and
Anya Bogdanova (5:12.83) had top 20 times in the morning heats of the 500. Michalek had the only FSC finals time in the 100 back prelims with a B standard time of 55.81.
Emily Peck was just outside the B final slots with a time of 58.70.
Pelletier's top time of 1:02.49 set the new program standard in the 100 breast and a B standard time for the Mocs. Suarez's B final appearance was set with a 1:06.48 prelims with
Brooke Brennan 18
th overall in the morning heats in 1:06.91. Reid had the last remaining top-20 time for FSC with a 1:07.57 finish.
Sikes and Brinton continued their butterfly success in the 200 fly as both made the A final with Sikes in fourth in 2:02.77 and Brinton in sixth with 2:03.17, both B standard times. Voroshazy was the only Moccasin in the B final with a morning time of 2:06.46 with
Janie Davis a top 20 time of 2:09.93.
The Mocs end the SSC Championships with the final day of action featuring the 100 free, 200 back, 200 breast, and 1650 free. The final event of the tournament will be the 400 free relay at the F.A.S.T. Center.
