ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference has announced three athletes from Florida Southern College earning Player of the Week selections.
Jack VanderSchuur of men's golf,
Alexandra Alkas Alias of women's swimming, and
Simeon Prosinski of men's swimming were all named SSC Players of the Week on October 27, 2025.
Jack VanderSchuur posted a top-three finish at the Golfweek Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite, finishing third with a three-round score of 211 (-5). The freshman made an eagle on the 502-yard par-5 fourth, and carded four more birdies on the day. He helped the Mocs vault up the leaderboard on day two, where they finished the tournament in third. VanderSchuur is ranked sixth in the nation and third in the South Region according to the Scoreboard by Clippd rankings. Florida Southern is ranked No. 6 in the Scoreboard by Clippd rankings and No. 3 in the Golfweek/Bushnell Coaches Poll.
In a quad meet against two NCAA DI and one DII program, Alexandra Alkas Alias shined with a strong performance in Tallahassee on Friday afternoon. The freshman had a fifth-place overall finish with a time of 1:02.90 (B cut) in the 100 breaststroke, followed by a third-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:17.62 (B cut). The Sweden native also competed in both relays, with a fifth-place in the 200 free relay (1:35.72) and seventh in the 200 medley relay (1:45.88).
Simeon Prosinski had a great meet against NCAA Division I Florida State University on Friday afternoon. The freshman won the 200 fly with a B cut time of 1:48.74, beating the DI competition. The St. Augustine, Fla. native followed with a second-place finish in the 400 IM with another B cut time of 3:54.23. As a member of a relay team, Prosinski finished sixth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:30.29.
