ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference has announced the 2025 All-SSC Men's Soccer awards with
Joao Lopes being named Co-Freshman of the Year along with
Tim Baierlein,
Darcy Moffat, and
Daniel Shabani being named to the All-Conference Third Team for the Florida Southern College men's soccer program.
Lopes earned Co-Freshman of the Year honors from the Sunshine State Conference and was named to the All-SSC Third Team following an impressive debut season for the Moccasins. The São Paulo, Brazil native started 16 of 17 matches, totaling nearly 1,200 minutes on the field. Lopes contributed one goal, two assists, and four points overall, with his lone goal coming in a 3-1 win over Embry-Riddle on October 29. He also tallied assists against Eckerd and Rollins, showcasing his creativity in midfield. Lopes became just the second player in program history to be named SSC Freshman of the Year and the first since 1997.
Baierlein was selected to the All-SSC Third Team after an outstanding season leading Florida Southern's attack. Baierlein appeared in all 17 matches and led the Moccasins in both goals (8) and points (18). His consistent offensive production included game-winning goals against Mount Olive and Barton early in the season, as well as multi-goal performances in key conference matchups such as Rollins on October 8. Known for his accuracy and composure, Baierlein recorded 29 shots with 19 on target and added goals from both free kicks and penalty situations, proving to be one of FSC's most reliable scorers.
A former All-SSC Second Team honoree, Moffat continued to be a driving force in the Moccasins' offense during the 2025 campaign, earning All-SSC Third Team honors. Moffat appeared in all 17 matches, registering six goals, two assists, and 14 points while leading the team with two game-winning goals. Among his highlights was a two-goal performance, including the decisive strike, in a 2-1 win over Barry on November 1, as well as the game-winner against Christian Brothers on September 12. With 16 of his 26 total shots landing on target, Moffat proved to be a consistent and dangerous finisher in front of goal.
All-SSC Third Team selection Shabani played a key role in the midfield for Florida Southern, appearing in all 17 matches while contributing on both ends of the field. Shabani tallied two goals and one assist for a total of five points while recording 15 shots and seven on target.
