COLUMBIA, S.C. - The No. 15 Florida Southern College women's swimming team finished day two of the Gamecock Invitational at the Carolina Natatorium, hosted by the University of South Carolina on Wednesday night.
In prelims,
Alexandra Alkas Alias leading the team with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:02.90. In a challenging meet,
Natalie True secured the 18th position in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:33.75.
Elizabeth Sikes delivered a strong showing in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing 22nd with a time of 56.33.
The Moccasins then sent nine to the finals portion of the day, highlighted by Alkas Alias's eighth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.89, earning 15 points. Sikes also contributed with a 15th-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 56.08 and adding 6 points to the team's tally.
Sikes played a key role in the 200-yard medley relay team that placed 13th, partnering with
Zoë Celi, Alkas Alias, and
Sam Hunter to clock in at 1:44.24. In the 400-yard individual medley, True finished 18th with a time of 4:32.57, adding three points to the team's tally.
Day three of the Gamecock Invitational will feature the 100 back, 200 BR, 500 free, 50 free, 200 FR, and 400 MR, all taking place tomorrow with prelims at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m. at the Carolina Natatorium.
