LAKELAND, Fla. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams have been released to include six from the Florida Southern College men's soccer team.
Ryan Fitzgerald, Daniel Shabani, Lasse Dettmer, Pablo Overfeld, Hector Oliver, and
Tim Baierlein, have all been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams. This honor, awarded for the 2025 academic year, highlights the outstanding balance these student-athletes have achieved between their academic pursuits and their commitments on the soccer field.
The Academic All-District recognition is a prestigious accolade that underscores the significant academic achievements of student-athletes who not only excel in their sport but also maintain a strong academic record. To qualify for this award, honorees must be at least sophomores in their academic standing and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Additionally, these students are vital contributors to their respective teams, participating in the majority of their contests.
Each of these six honorees from the Florida Southern College men's soccer team has demonstrated remarkable dedication and discipline.
Ryan Fitzgerald is pursuing an MBA and has upheld an impressive undergraduate GPA of 3.62. The 6-2 defender from Rochester, N.Y. started in all 16 games he made appearances in, scoring against Flagler on Sept. 19, totaling three shots on the Mocs' back line for 1,287 minutes of action.
Daniel Shabani, also an MBA candidate specializing in I/O Psychology, boasts a 3.60 undergraduate GPA and an outstanding 3.93 graduate GPA at Missouri State University. A 5-8 defender from Sweden started in all 15 games he appeared in, with two goals. Shabani played 1,200 minutes on the pitch with two goals, one assist, and 15 shots.
Senior
Lasse Dettmer, majoring in Business Administration, stands out with a stellar 3.9583 GPA over 108 career hours. Dettmer, a 6-2 keeper from Germany, was the lone keeper for the Mocs all season, having over 1,500 minutes in between the posts for 48 saves.
Junior
Pablo Overfeld specializes in Sport Business Management and has achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA with 106 career hours. On the field, the 6-2 defender from Germany has stayed solid on the backline, totaling 1,384 hours and contributing one assist early in the year against Rollins, while also having five shots.
Hector Oliver, a sophomore transfer in Business Administration, holds a commendable 3.87 GPA from Missouri State. Oliver, a 5-9 midfielder, has appeared in 16 games with 15 starts for the Mocs. Oliver had one goal and led the team in assists with three on the year.
Tim Baierlein, another sophomore transfer, maintains a 3.81 GPA in Marketing from the University of Pittsburgh. The 6-4 forward from Germany leads the Mocs in multiple categories, including goals (8), points (18), shots (29), and shots on goal (19).
The inclusion of these six athletes in the Academic All-District Teams is a testament to the strong academic culture fostered within the Florida Southern College men's soccer program. Their achievements reflect a collective commitment to academic excellence and athletic prowess, setting a high standard for future student-athletes.
