LAKELAND, Fla. — No. 15 Florida Southern College women's swimming narrowly beat Indian River State College in a competitive matchup at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool on Senior Day, with a 106-99 win.

Sam Hunter led the Moccasins with first-place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and as part of the victorious 200-yard medley relay team.

Florida Southern's women delivered a strong performance, highlighted by several top finishes across multiple events. The 200-yard medley relay team of
Zoë Celi, Alexa Paredes, Elizabeth Sikes, and Hunter clinched first place with a time of 1:47.29.
Gabrielle Goodwin demonstrated her endurance in the 1000-yard freestyle, securing first place with a time of 10:35.00. Hunter also excelled individually, claiming victory in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.39. Sikes then secured a first place finish in the 100 fly, with a time of 57.33 on Senior Day. Â

In addition to these individual successes,
Mallory Baker and Paredes showed strength in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing first and second with times of 1:06.08 and 1:06.12, respectively.
Rania Khallouqi was a standout in the 100-yard freestyle, taking first with a time of 53.65. The team also saw significant contributions in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where the group of Khallouqi,
Hannah Stewart, Sikes, and Hunter secured a second-place finish with a time of 1:38.63. Collectively, these performances underscored Florida Southern's depth and ability to capture top finishes throughout the competition.

Hunter played a pivotal role for the Mocs, contributing to the winning 200-yard medley relay team. Goodwin excelled in distance events, capturing first in the 1000-yard freestyle and finishing second in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:09.75. Baker delivered strong performances, placing first in the 100-yard breaststroke and achieving a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
