Sasaki Named D2CCA All-South Region

LAKELAND, Fla. – Sophomore Nako Sasaki of the Florida Southern College volleyball team earned All-South Region Second Team honors from the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) the organization announced Wednesday afternoon. Sasaki becomes just the fourth Moccasin in program history to earn All-South Region honors from D2CCA and first since 2023.
 
Sasaki was recently named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-SSC.
 
Sasaki led the conference and ranked 43rd in the nation in digs per set this season at 4.96 while her 536 total digs ranked second in the league and 37th in NCAA Division II. She tallied double-digit digs in all but one match this season including a high of 31 achieved versus Hillsdale in the season opening tournament. She also reached 30 digs versus Embry-Riddle in late October. She posted a trio of double-doubles with double-digit assists versus Eckerd, Florida Tech and Embry-Riddle. Sasaki's season average of 4.96 digs per set ranks fourth in the single season FSC Record Book while her 536 digs rank eighth.
 
Sasaki was one of 14 student-athletes selected from throughout the South Region, including nine from the SSC. She earned Second Team honors and was one of just two liberos selected to the All-Region Teams. 
 
Sasaki joins Mackenzie Petermann (2020-24), Nicole Mattson (2015-18) and Rachael Martin (2017-20) as the only four Moccasins to ever be named All-South Region by D2CCA. The pair of Mattson and Martin earned All-Region honors following the 2018 regular season while Petermann took home Second Team honors in 2023.
