Moccasins Upset #3 Sailfish to Close Out 2025

LAKELAND, Fla. — The Florida Southern College men's basketball team (11-3, 3-1 Sunshine State) ended 2025 with a massive upset win over No. 3 Palm Beach Atlantic (12-1, 4-1 Sunshine State) by a 101-85 score on Wednesday night at Jenkins Field House.

Today's game was the largest win over a top-3 opponent in program history, and the sixth double-digit win over a top-3 opponent for the Mocs. FSC was receiving votes in the latest NABC DII Poll.

"Obviously, today was a big win," stated head coach Mike Donnelly, "but more importantly, I was very pleased with our energy, focus and attention to detail which is something that we have been consistently emphasizing to our guys. We had a great scoring balance once again with 6 players in double figures, which is key for us."

Florida Southern began the first half strong by establishing an early rhythm with effective shooting. Ameer Ramadan contributed significantly, scoring both in the paint and from beyond the arc. The home team capitalized on turnovers and fast breaks, creating a gap on the scoreboard.

As the half progressed, Florida Southern maintained their momentum through consistent defensive stops and efficient rebounding, particularly from Amare Miller. They closed the first half with a 49–26 lead, showcasing a balanced offensive and defensive effort.

The second half began with Charlie Dalton scoring a layup to increase the home team's lead. PBA attempted to close the gap with Alvin Tumblin's layup, but the host team responded with a series of successful plays, including Brady Corso's three-pointer, which maintained momentum for Florida Southern.

Throughout the half, Miller and Jasir Tremble contributed significantly, with Miller frequently scoring inside the paint and Tremble adding points from beyond the arc. PBA kept the pressure with scoring from Christian Kirkland and Tumblin. However, FSC's consistent scoring, including key free throws by Dalton, allowed them to keep a steady lead.

As the half closed, Miller's defensive rebound and subsequent dunk, coupled with Elijah Walsh's free throws, solidified the home team's advantage. Florida Southern finished the half leading 101-85, securing a decisive victory.

Miller posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds, adding two blocks before fouling out. Tremble scored 21 points, including six 3-pointers, and recorded eight assists. Khalil Ross contributed with 15 points and three blocks while also collecting two steals. Dalton converted eight free throws and blocked two shots in his performance. Florida Southern recorded 10 steals and 8 blocks, contributing to their commanding win.

Looking ahead, FSC will face No. 4 Nova Southeastern on Saturday, Jan. 3, at 4 p.m. The matchup will take place at Rick Case Arena in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
