LAKELAND, Fla. – The 15th-ranked Florida Southern College men's lacrosse team opened up the 2025 season at home Saturday afternoon as fourth-ranked Limestone University visited Berend Field. The first half of action was back-and-forth but a 5-0 third quarter by the Saints gave Limestone a six-goal advantage heading into the final frame, which they used to capture a 14-8 victory.

The loss drops FSC to 0-1 on the year while the Saints begin the season a perfect 1-0.

Freshman
Ian Evans led the offensive effort as he had a team-best three points in the loss including his first career goal and a pair of assists. Senior
Brydon Robichaud and junior
Nolan Tighe led the way for the Mocs with two goals each. Four other Mocs finished with one point each on the day.

FSC won the face-off battle taking 17 of the 26 attempts (.654) while junior
Jacob Czyz led the way going 15-of-24 (.625) at the 'X' with a team-best seven ground balls and a goal. Graduate student
Michael Simone faced 28 shots on goal while making 14 saves in 60 minutes of action.

The Saints were paced by Michael McGarry who scored three goals and dished out three assists. Zachary Terry added three goals and an assist while Austin Lamoureux and Carter Korzenski each scored four goals. Colin Selters picked up the win in goal while making 16 saves while facing 24 shots on goal.

The Mocs and Saints traded the opening six goals of the contest. Limestone opened the scoring just over 3:30 into the contest as Lamoureux finished off an assist from McGarry. The Mocs answered a minute later as sophomore
Grant Ansted scored an unassisted goal. Lamoureux scored again two minutes later before Tighe answered once again one minute later. The Saints took a 3-2 lead into the first break after Terry scored with 3:19 left in the first. The Saints held the lead for the final three minutes of the first but a minute and a half into the second Robichaud found the back of the cage to tie things at 3-3. The Mocs took their only lead of the contest five minutes later as Evans scored his first career goal to put FSC ahead 4-3 with 7:49 left in the second. It took just over two minutes for the Saints to respond as Lamoureux completed his hat trick sparking a 10-0 run by the Saints that lasted from the 6:02 mark of the second quarter to the 6:12 mark of the fourth when Robichaud finally broke through for his second goal of the day. The Saints added one more at 5:29 before the Mocs scored three-straight to end the contest, 14-8. Two of FSC's goals came within 10 seconds of each other as Czyz followed a goal by freshman
Ryan Naslonski with a face-off win and quick score to cut the deficit to seven with just under four minutes to play. Tighe added one more goal with just under three to play but that ended the scoring for both teams.

The Saints were near perfect in clears, 26-of-27 (.963), while the Mocs struggled to advance the ball going 17-of-23 (.739). FSC won the face-off battle (17-9) and also won the ground ball contest (42-38). Limestone was 1-of-3 in extra-man opportunities while the Mocs went 0-of-4.

The Mocs will be back in action next Saturday, Feb. 8 at noon as FSC welcomes in fifth-ranked Wingate.
