LAKELAND, Fla. - The No. 27 Florida Southern College men's tennis team had yet another win against a DI opponent with a 4-0 win over Fordham University on Tuesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
The Moccasins (10-4) extended their win streak to six games with a sweep of doubles and clinched match in singles. The Rams (3-6) were unable to secure a court win after the match was clinched with a doubles point and three courts to FSC.
In doubles, Chris Fok Kow and Mario Garoz, ranked No. 47 in DII doubles, won by a 6-2 score, followed by a 6-4 win by Bosko Boskovic and Gabriel Jornert at the #2 court. At #3, George Russell and Sam Frizelle outlasted their opponents in a 7-6 (7-4) win to sweep doubles.
For singles, Frizelle, ranked No. 55 in singles, led off with a 6-2, 6-1 win at the #1 court, followed by a 6-2, 6-3 win at #3 court by Garoz. Russell clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the #4 court with all other courts unfinished in the 4-0 match win.
The Mocs will take a quick trip to the USTA campus in Orlando tomorrow, March 19, to face No. 20 Emporia State, set for a 10 a.m. start.
