VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 11 Florida Southern College men's tennis team could not upset No. 1 University of West Florida in a neutral-site matchup at the VSU Tennis Courts Sunday afternoon.

The Moccasins (14-7, 4-3 SSC) had another court win in doubles but not enough for the first point of the day. The Argonauts (19-1, 7-1 GSC) secured three wins in singles to clinch the match 4-0, with the remaining three courts unfinished.

In doubles,
Matthew Hewitt and
Sam Frizelle had another doubles win, their fifth straight, with a 7-5 win at the #3 court.
Chris Fok Kow and
Mario Garoz, ranked No. 44 in doubles, nearly upset the No. 3 pairing of Duran and Rondon, though lost 7-6 (7-2).
Bosko Boskovic and
George Russell then lost the #2 court by a 6-3 score.

For singles, the Mocs faced four singles players from UWF ranked in the top 75 of NCAA Division II players. Frizelle (ranked No. 63) went up against No. 7 Cabrera with a two-set loss. Fok Kow went unfinished against No. 11 Rondon, losing the first set and tied 5-5 in the second before the clinched match. Garoz (ranked No. 56) also went unfinished, nearly winning the first set against No. 31 Sotelo. Boskovic went unfished against No. 43 Duran with a close second set before being called. The #5 court of Russell versus Ekenros went to UWF 6-4, 6-4, and the #6 court of
Gabriel Jornert went to Maulouet of the Argos 6-4, 6-1 with the match clinched, 4-0.

The Mocs will wrap the regular season with a road match against Palm Beach Atlantic University on Thursday, April 17, with a 3 p.m. start in West Palm Beach.
