Mocs lost 4-0 after weather delayed part of the match into Saturday

PENSACOLA, Fla. – After an extended weather delay pushing the completion of the match into Saturday, the No. 14 Florida Southern College men's tennis team had its 2025 season come to a close with a 4-0 loss against No. 3 Barry University in the first round of the NCAA South Regional at the Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

The Moccasins (17-9) lost doubles as the Buccaneers (19-3) handled singles after a weather delay to shut out the Mocs in a rematch of the Sunshine State Conference Championship. The match completed doubles and had one court finish on Friday before delaying the completion until Saturday morning in Pensacola.

In doubles, the pairing of George Russell and Onur Turgut lost 6-1 to Riccardo Trione and Yan Kodjoed to start the match. The #2 court of Sam Frizelle and Matthew Hewitt then lost to Gabriele Felline and Tim Riedel 6-2. The #1 court of Chris Fok Kow and Mario Garoz versus Adam Lynch and Thomas Machado went unfinished with the doubles point clinched to Barry.

For singles, Garoz lost 6-3, 6-4 to No. 33 Kodjoed at the #3 court, followed by losses at the #5 and 1 courts from Hewitt and Frizelle. Hewitt had a 6-4, 6-4 to Lynch, and Frizelle a 6-2, 6-3 loss to No. 38 Trione. All other courts went unfinished with the match clinched by the Buccaneers. Florida Southern ended the 2025 season with a 17-9 overall, the most match wins in a season since 2008, and finished with a winning SSC record for the first time since 2010. FSC had a historic run in this year's SSC championships before its 22nd and second consecutive NCAA postseason appearance, advancing to the first conference championship game since 2002. Garoz, named the SSC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Year, broke the single-season win record last month, finishing with a 22-3 record in 2025.

Recognized by his peers for this season's success, Rollyson was named the SSC Coach of the Year, just the second FSC coach and third time in program history to earn the award. Fok Kow, with a 17-3 singles record, was named All-SSC First Team and joined Garoz in a Second Team Doubles recognition. Another season highlight is Fok Kow ending the season with 51 career single wins and 55 doubles wins, both top six in program history. Garoz finished 2025 with 59 career singles wins, third all-time in program history.
