LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College women's basketball
Anna Denes has officially signed her first professional contract with Salerno Basket, a club competing in Italy's Serie A2, the second tier of professional women's basketball in the country.
A native of Budapest, Hungary, Denes heads to southern Italy after a successful three-year career with the Moccasins. Founded in 2013, Salerno Basket has steadily built a competitive reputation in Serie A2. The club is led by head coach Patrizia Rinaldi, and features standout players such as Alessia De Mitri, Federica Orchi, Camilla Valerio, Abiodun Yusuf, and Carmen Scala.
Denes made an impact from the moment she stepped on the floor for Florida Southern, appearing in 85 games with 75 starts during her career. She totaled 556 points and 484 rebounds while averaging 6.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. In her final season, she averaged a career-best 6.4 rebounds per game and remained a consistent presence on both ends of the court. Throughout her career, she shot 38.0 percent from the field, 20.9 percent from three-point range, and 67.7 percent from the free-throw line. She also recorded 87 steals and 38 blocked shots, showcasing her defensive instincts and ability to impact the game in multiple ways.
Off the court, Denes excelled in the classroom and was a model student-athlete. She was named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll in both 2023 and 2024 and earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. Her on-court excellence was also recognized when she was named Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week on January 20, 2025.
Now set to begin her professional career, Denes brings experience, toughness, and a strong basketball IQ to a Salerno Basket team looking to compete at the highest level of Serie A2. Her journey from Budapest to Lakeland and now to Italy is a testament to her dedication and the strong foundation she built at Florida Southern.
