ALBANY, Ga. – The No. 1 Florida Southern College men's golf opened the first round of the Hurricane Invitational tied-11th with a 10-over score of 298 at the Doublegate Country Club. Bad weather conditions interrupted the first round, with teams only able to play 18 holes on day one.
Colton Swartz leads the way for the Mocs, shooting an even par in the opening round. The senior erased an early 2-stroke deficit with a pair of birdies on the back nine to reach back to even. He currently sits tied-14th in the field.
Jack VanderSchuur sits one stroke off Swartz, shooting a 73 to open. The sophomore carded three birdies in the round, including back-to-back birdies on holes 12 and 13. He currently sits tied-28th.
Davis Daigle opens the tournament tied-43rd with a 3-over score of 75. He carded two birdies on the day.
Anthony Monteleone competed as an individual and sits tied-52nd with a score of 76 (+4). Monteleone carded two birdies in the round.
Thomas Evans and
Liam Fernandez round out the Moccasin lineup in tied-67th and tied-75th, respectively. Evans made his collegiate debut with an opening round of 76, carding two birdies. Fernandez shot an 8-over 80 to open the tournament.
The host team Georgia Southwestern leads the field, with a 5-under 283. Harry Dickins holds the individual lead, with a 4-under score of 68.
Due to the weather today, the tournament was shortened to 36-holes. The Mocs will tee off for the final round Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM.
