ORLANDO, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball libero Nako Sasaki was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Sasaki averaged a league-leading 5.43 digs per set in FSC's 2-0 week on the road.

In the Mocs' 3-1 win over Eckerd last Tuesday, the junior totaled 21 digs, 10 assists and two aces for her second double-double of the season. She helped FSC hold the Tritons to a .110 hitting percentage with no players tallying double-digit kills.

Sasaki followed up with 17 digs and five assists in Florida Southern's sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic on Thursday night. The Mocs held the Sailfish to a .093 hitting percentage through three sets of play.

The Japan native maintained a perfect 1.000 reception percentage on 40 attempts through both matches. The Mocs also led the league in opponent hitting percentage last week with just a .102 mark.

Sasaki, the reigning SSC Defensive Player of the Year, has now earned Player of the Week honors four times in her career.

The Mocs are back in action at home this week against No. 9 Barry and Florida Tech. FSC will host the Buccaneers on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and the Panthers on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. inside George W. Jenkins Field House.
