Hackworth and Brodsky Named SSC Players of the Week

Mocs sweep the final SSC weekly awards of 2026

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's soccer team swept the final Sunshine State Conference weekly awards of 2026 as Ava Hackworth was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Carly Brodsky was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Both were awarded the SSC weekly award for their efforts in the 2-0 shutout of No. 2 Florida Tech to end the regular season. The Mocs upset the Panthers with stellar defensive play paired with an attacking offensive unit for the highest-ranked opponent FSC defeated since 2010. This is the first weekly award for Hackworth and the third for Brodsky over their careers.

Hackworth delivered a clutch performance in the 2-0 victory over No. 2 Florida Tech, scoring the game-winning goal to help secure the shutout win for the Mocs. Entering the game as a sub in the final minutes of the first half, Hackworth converted a bouncing free kick by Hayden Johnston with 25 seconds remaining and sent FSC into halftime with a 1-0 lead. The first goal of the season for Hackworth, the sophomore from Monrovia, Calif., has appeared in 14 games with one start in 2025, tallying 11 shots.

Brodsky had an incredible game for the Mocs, ending the regular season with a 2-0 shutout of the No. 2 Panthers on Tuesday night. Recording her ninth shutout of the season, Brodsky had five saves in the 2-0 victory, tying a season high. A redshirt senior from Parkland, Fla., Brodsky faced a season-high 22 shots as FSC secured the upset over No. 2 Florida Tech. The game brought her career total to 23 shutouts, one shy of tying the program record set by Jenny Staten (2019-23). Brodsky has a league-best 0.50 GAA, making her one of the best goalkeepers in the conference and nation.

The Moccasins will open the postseason on the road in the SSC quarterfinal as a five seed. FSC will face No. 4 seed Tampa on Monday, Nov. 2, with a 7 p.m. start at Pepin Stadium.
