HILTON HEAD, S.C. — Florida Southern College (3-2) defeated Tiffin University (3-5) 6-1 on Monday. Florida Southern secured the victory by winning five of six singles matches and clinching the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Emily Jennewein and
Ronja Scheuermann clinched a 6-4 win on court one against Jemimah Choi and Brooke McNeal, following the earlier success of
Annika Berrendorf and
Jolie Miller, who posted a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles over Erna Brdarevic and Katarina Yates. Tiffin managed to take No. 3 doubles as Francesca Milani and Imani Shah defeated
Elin Axler and
Kennedi Brown 6-1.
In singles play, Florida Southern extended its lead with a decisive performance.
Diana Volkov captured the first singles point with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Tea Schoulmann-Dore at No. 5 singles. Miller followed suit at No. 4 singles, securing a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Brdarevic. Scheuermann delivered a win at No. 1 singles, overcoming Choi in a three-set battle, 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(14-12), to further solidify the lead.
Jennewein added another point for the Mocs with a hard-fought 3-6, 7-5, 1-0(10-7) victory over McNeal at No. 3 singles. Axler concluded the match with a triumph at No. 6 singles, defeating Anisha Sivakumar in a three-set contest, 6-0, 3-6, 1-0(10-6). Tiffin's lone singles victory came at No. 2 singles, where Milani edged out Berrendorf 7-5, 5-7, 1-0(13-11).
The next challenge for Florida Southern comes as they head to Hilton Head, South Carolina, to face Assumption University on Tuesday, March 3, at 9 a.m.
