Reber and Cohen Headline SSC Honors; Nine Tabbed to All-SSC Teams

Reber was named SSC Coach of the Year, while Cohen was named SSC Draw Specialist of the Year

ORLANDO, Fla. – Florida Southern women's lacrosse placed an impressive nine players as All-Sunshine State Conference Selections as announced by the league office Friday. Junior, Kolby Cohen, was named SSC Draw Specialist of the Year, and head coach Kara Reber was named the 2026 SSC Coach of the Year. 

Cohen, a junior from Memphis, Tenn., earned the 2026 Draw Specialist of the Year after guiding Florida Southern all year in the circle. Cohen tied for the league lead in draw controls with 116 while posting a conference-wide best 47 in SSC play as the Moccasins went 7-0 in the regular season and 17-1 through the SSC tournament. Cohen notched 34 points with 19 goals and 15 assists while scooping up 14 groundballs and 11 caused turnovers. She was tabbed to the All-SSC first team along with four other teammates. In post-season play, Cohen was named the Most Outstanding Player of the SSC Tournament, as part of the All-Tournament Team. 

Jenna Vetter, Brayden Cannelli, Audrey Cannelli, and Charlie Laye also received All-SSC first team selections. 

Vetter leads the Moccasin squad in both points and goals with 66 and 56, respectively. The junior eclipsed her 100th career goal this season against PBA on April 15th, bringing her career total to 108. Vetter also tied the program record for goals in a game with nine against Saint Leo on March 25th. Vetter was named SSC Offensive Player of the Week and IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week following the nine-goal performance. 

Both Cannellis and Laye have been leaders on the Moccasin defense this season, combining for 90 caused turnovers. The trio ranks top three on the squad in caused turnovers; Audrey Cannelli with 37, Laye with 28, and Brayden Cannelli with 25. They also lead the team in ground balls, with Laye picking up 34, Brayden 33, and Audrey 29. The Cannelli twins are also active on the draw circle, with Audrey grabbing 45 draw controls and Brayden grabbing 36. Laye and Brayden Cannelli both earned SSC Player of the Week honors once this season. Laye, Brayden, and Audrey Cannelli were all named to the SSC All-Tournament Team. 

Hanna Watson, Riley Rivera, Julia Lucas, and Isabelle Lucas were named All-SSC second team. 

Watson and Rivera were significant contributors to the Florida Southern attack, especially in conference play. 15 of Watson's 22 goals came in SSC regular season play, with an additional two in the conference tournament. She ranks third on the squad in goals and tied for first in assists with 19, combining for 41 points on the season. Rivera ties Watson in the team lead for assists with 19, and added 16 goals in her rookie campaign. Eight of her 16 goals came in the SSC regular season, with a career-high three-goal performance against Florida Tech on April 14th. 

The Lucas sisters round out Florida Southern's All-SSC selections as an integral part of the Mocs' defense. Isabelle caused 24 turnovers and picked up 17 ground balls, while Julia caused 23 turnovers, picked up 29 ground balls, and had two draw controls. Julia was also named to the SSC All-Tournament Team. 

Head coach Kara Reber earned her third Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year honor after leading Florida Southern to its ninth regular-season league title in the league's 12 years, as well as capturing the SSC Tournament title for the fifth time overall to give the Moccasins a total of 14 SSC titles in 12 years. Reber was selected as Coach of the Year by her peers after winning the tournament title for the first time since 2022, and the first sweep of league titles outright by any team since 2023. She secured her 300th career win against Florida Tech on April 14th, and led the Moccasin team to a 15-1 finish in the regular season. 

Nine All-SSC Selections marks the most since the 2022 season, when Florida Southern had nine. The Mocs also had nine SSC selections in 2019, and a program-best 10 in the conference's first year in 2015.
