PENSACOLA, Fla. — No. 10 Florida Southern College men's tennis (17-7) fell to No. 8 Rollins College (21-3) 4-2 to end the 2026 season. Florida Southern secured singles victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions but was unable to secure the win in the opening round of the NCAA South Regional.
Florida Southern dropped the doubles point to Rollins after a decisive win from Rollins at No. 3 doubles, where Nico de Giacomo and Lawson Prather defeated
Mario Garoz and
Edoardo Melindo, 6-1. Rollins secured the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles from Mo Anterist and Fabian Gusic over
Bosko Boskovic and
Gabriel Jornert. Florida Southern, however, had a big win at No. 1 doubles, as the No. 17 pair of
George Russell and
Onur Turgut overcame the No. 12 Rollins duo of Richard Stoiberer and Pete Tran, 6-1.
In singles play, Florida Southern quickly leveled the score, with
Marco Cinotti delivering a straight-sets win at No. 4 singles over Richard Stoiberer, 6-3, 6-0.
Mario Antonio Morales, ranked No. 65, then pushed the Mocs ahead with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles against Mo Anterist. Rollins responded at No. 1 singles, where the No. 8-ranked Lawson Prather beat No. 9 Garoz in a three-set battle, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
The Tars regained the lead at No. 6 singles as Pete Tran defeated Boskovic, 7-5, 6-1. The match concluded at No. 3 singles, where Nico de Giacomo secured a win for Rollins over Turgut, 6-3, 6-3, setting the final dual score at 4-2. The match at No. 2 singles between
Matthew Hewitt and Fabian Gusic remained unfinished with a 6-4, 2-6, 2-2 scoreline.
The Mocs ended the 2026 season with a 17-7 overall record, making their third straight NCAA tournament appearance. With 17 wins in the regular season, FSC posted one of its best seasons in program history. With two All-Sunshine State Conference selections, Florida Southern ended the year with two nationally-ranked singles players and two pairings ranked in doubles.
