Barile, Groppuso, Mistretta, and Swartz Named PING All-South Region

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced its 2026 NCAA Division II PING All-Region Teams, with Florida Southern College's Max Barile, Donte Groppuso, Tyler Mistretta, and Colton Swartz all named as honorees.

Barile, ranked No. 4 according to the latest Scoreboard powered by Clippd, is currently three under in the NCAA Championship at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. Barile leads the team with a 70.56 overall stroke average and was recently named one of the five finalists for the 2026 NCAA Division II Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. The redshirt senior from Land O' Lakes, Fla., has one tournament win on the season, with eight top-10 finishes, culminating in being named the Sunshine State Conference Golfer of the Year. This is his second career PING All-Region award.

Groppuso, ranked No. 36 and an even-par first round of the NCAA tournament, has shone in 2026, with a tournament win at the Matlock Collegiate Classic in Lakeland. The graduate student has competed in nine tournaments this season with two top 10 finishes and a 72.41 average. He carded an eagle on hole two of the NCAA first round yesterday, currently tied for 35th at the national stage.

Mistretta has a two-under first round at the NCAA championship, having competed in 10 tournaments this season and a 72.30 average. The graduate student from North Palm Beach, Fla., has two top-10 finishes this year. A key golfer for the back-to-back SSC champions, Mistretta joins Barile as a veteran on the team for nationals, competing in his third-straight tournament. This is his second PING All-South Region award, having won in the 2024 season.

Swartz, the individual champion for the SSC tournament last month, is ranked No. 14 according to Clippd, and tied for 48th in the NCAA tournament.  He sits at one-over in the first 18 holes, with a strong 2025-26 year already heading into the national competition. The junior from Fleming Island, Fla., was awarded the PING All-South Region Team last year, eventually being named to the PING All-America First Team.

Florida Southern will return to Boulder Creek Golf Club this afternoon for round two of stroke play in the NCAA Championship, tied for third in the team standings. Donte Groppuso will be first to tee off at 12:05 PM PT, followed by Anthony Monetelone at 12:16 PM PT, Colton Swartz at 12:27 PM PT, Tyler Mistretta at 12:38 PM PT, and Max Barile at 12:49 PM PT.
