Men's Basketball Announces 2026-27 Recruiting Class

LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College men's basketball head coach Mike Donnelly, announces the 2026-27 men's basketball recruiting class featuring four transfers and three freshmen, adding to the 10 players retained from the 2025-26 season. 

"We feel very good about the potential of this year's recruiting class and our overall roster construction," stated Donnelly. "Our coaching staff worked hard identifying the right people who we believe can help us improve and compete for a championship. We added much needed length, athleticism, and firepower to our roster. Our newcomers are talented, but more importantly, they are competitive and want to win. They fit our culture well."

Adren Roberts
6-5 | 215 | Forward | Graduate Student
Greenacres, Florida

Adren Roberts transfers to Florida Southern after spending the previous three seasons at Barry University. He appeared in four games during the 2024-25 season before suffering a season-ending injury, averaging 8.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 73.7% from the field. During the 2023-24 campaign, Roberts averaged 11.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game before averaging 7.4 points and 4.6 rebounds the following season. Over his career at Barry, he played in 76 games with 59 starts. Roberts enters his graduate season with one year of eligibility remaining.

"Adren is a very talented player. His athleticism and versatility, both offensively and defensively, will fit our play style and system well. His experience, leadership, and toughness will have a major impact for us."

Pablo Navarro
6-5 | 210 | Forward | Senior
Valencia, Spain

Pablo Navarro joins the Moccasins after helping Saint Martin's University to a 26-win season and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025-26. He averaged 8.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field, 40.0% from 3-point range and 78.5% from the free-throw line. Navarro totaled 75 offensive rebounds, 43 steals and eight double-doubles during the season. Prior to Saint Martin's, he spent two seasons at Oral Roberts. He enters his senior season with one year of eligibility remaining.

"Pablo is a very smart, tough, and efficient player. He is super active and plays with a great motor. He is a productive player due to his ability to score the ball in a variety of ways. He has a high IQ and a great feel for the game."

Starrell Hearns
6-2 | 190 | Guard | Senior
Carteret, New Jersey

Starrell Hearns arrives at Florida Southern after one standout season at St. Thomas Aquinas College. He averaged 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game in 29 contests while shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.1% from beyond the arc and 77.4% from the free-throw line. Hearns added 76 assists, 58 steals, and knocked down 62 3-pointers during the season. He began his collegiate career at Bloomfield, where he spent two seasons. Over 88 career games, Hearns has totaled 1,387 points and 192 3-pointers. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

"Starrell is a talented and well-rounded player who impacts winning in a variety of ways. He is a proven scorer and is a very athletic and physical guard. He is a tough shotmaker, and he can also facilitate as well. Starrell is an experienced and competitive player who fits our style of play well."

Gabe Hernandez
5-11 | 180 | Guard | Senior
Miami, Florida

Gabe Hernandez transfers to Florida Southern after spending the 2025-26 season at The Citadel, where he appeared in 19 games and averaged 2.0 points per game. He scored a season-high 10 points in 23 minutes against Davidson. Hernandez previously played two seasons at Barry, averaging 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game during the 2023-24 season while shooting 48.4% from the field and 77.3% from the free-throw line. In 60 career games at Barry, he totaled 650 points and 155 assists. Hernandez has one year of eligibility remaining.

"Gabe is a dynamic player. He is an explosive guard with tremendous athleticism. He is a dangerous offensive threat due to his speed and ability to attack downhill. He is a creative and efficient scorer who finishes well in the paint and at the rim."

AJ Trimboli
5-11 | 160 | Guard | Freshman
Norwalk, Connecticut

AJ Trimboli joins the Mocs from King School, where he graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,710 career points and all-time assists leader with 400 assists. As a senior, he averaged 22.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 44.1% from 3-point range and 87.0% from the free-throw line. Trimboli earned First Team All-Conference and First Team NEPSAC Class B honors.

"AJ is a very skilled player and possesses a high-level basketball IQ. He is an elite shooter and is a creative shot maker off the dribble. AJ has a great feel for the game and has been well coached both in high school and AAU. As he continues to develop physically, AJ's game will continue to improve and evolve".

Brayson Green
6-6 | 195 | Forward | Freshman
Beverly, Massachusetts

Brayson Green comes to Florida Southern from Putnam Science Academy, one of the nation's premier prep basketball programs. He helped lead the program to the 2025 National Prep Basketball Championship and earned All-New England Conference honors. During his senior season, Green averaged 8.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game.

"BG is a very talented player with a high ceiling. He is a terrific athlete who can impact the game in different ways due to his versatility and his high motor at both ends of the floor. He has played at a high level both in high school and AAU, so he understands what it takes to win. I am excited to see him continue to grow and develop his game."

Damien Ross
6-2 | 185 | Guard | Freshman
Tampa, Florida

Damien Ross joins the Moccasins following a standout career at Jesuit High School. As a senior, he averaged 15.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 51.0% from the field. Ross reached double figures in scoring in 27 games and helped lead Jesuit to a 24-7 record and a berth in the FHSAA Class 5A State Tournament Final Four. He was also recognized as one of the Top 25 players in the Tampa Bay area.

"We are excited to add Damien to our program. He comes from an outstanding HS program and has been well coached throughout his HS and AAU career. He is a very hard worker and a disciplined young man with high character. He is a talented player with a high upside."
