ORLANDO, Fla. --- Sophomore Joao Lopes was named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Lynn on Saturday night, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning (Sep. 22).

Lopes was a major factor in the Mocs' 2-0 week, both of which were conference opponents. Against No. 13 Lynn on Saturday, Lopes assisted in the opening goal of the contest while netting the game-winner in the 59th minute to give the Mocs a 2-1 win. It was the first time since 2023 that the team took down a top-15 opponent. He also was the only non-defensive player for FSC to play all ninety minutes against Eckerd on Wednesday. 

Lopes added to his stat sheet, now with two goals and a single assist so far this season. His other goal on the year came late in the Saint Leo contest, where he helped the team nearly pull off a four-goal comeback. The former All-SSC Third Team member and Co-Freshman of the Year winner now wins his first weekly honor of his career.

Lopes and the Mocs next face Flagler in a non-conference bout on Wednesday night (Sep. 23), with kickoff set for 6 PM.
