LAKELAND, Fla. — Florida Southern College men's cross country dominated the first meet of the year, placing first in the Uncle Nick's Swan City Bagel Run at Holloway Park on Saturday morning. Eli Zuppa was the top collegiate runner for the meet, with a time of 18:04.8.
 
The Moccasins finished first in the men's 6K team results with 15 points, a total time of 1:32.28, and an average time of 18:30. Led by Zuppa (top runner attached to a team), the Mocs took six out of the top 10 times, placing second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth among all runners, unattached or with a college team. Second place for team scoring went to Florida Tech with 52 points, the University of Tampa in third with 78 points, Eastern Florida in fourth with 133 points, Southeastern University in fifth with 144 points, Florida College in sixth with 186 points, Florida Polytechnic University in seventh with 189 points, and Warner in eighth with 228 points.
 
Zuppa finished with a time of 18:04.8 and scored one point, while Cole Summers was right behind with a third-place finish of 18:06.7 and scored two points. The next four Mocs finished with each other, beginning with Michael Toppi, who added a fifth-place finish in 18:24.6 and scored three points. Parker Graham was sixth with a time of 18:53.7 and scored four points; Thomas McCarthy was seventh with a time of 18:58.3 and scored five points, and Andrew Nyland was eighth with a time of 19:00.8 for six points.
 
The top 10 Moccasin runners all finished in the top 20, with Jacob Finch in 12^th (19:13.8), Michael Girard in 13^th (19:13.9), Tyler Gaines in 14^th (19:15.4), and Jack Girard in 19^th (19:27.9).
 
The Mocs will race next in the FSU Invite on Friday, Sept. 18, at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.
