Washburn Overpowers Augusta in 101-53 Rout

LAKELAND, Fla. — Washburn University dominated Augusta University with a 101-53 victory at Jenkins Field House, capitalizing on 25 points off turnovers and scoring 66 points in the paint.

Washburn started strong in the first half, quickly taking a 5-0 lead after a dunk by Jeremiah Jones and a three-pointer from Jack Bachelor. Augusta called a timeout just 40 seconds into the game. Dillon Claussen was instrumental with multiple scoring plays, including a layup and a free throw to extend the lead to 9-3. The Ichbod's defense was formidable, forcing turnovers and converting them into fast-break points, highlighted by Claussen's three-pointer at the 1:45 mark. Washburn ended the half with a commanding 56-25 lead, dominating both offensively and defensively.

Washburn took control in the second half, outscoring Augusta 45-28 to secure a decisive victory. Bachelor contributed significantly, hitting two 3-pointers and tallying multiple assists, including one to Jones for a dunk at 17:38. Brady Christiansen was prominent in the paint, scoring several layups, and Claussen added a fastbreak dunk at 9:17. Wyatt Lewis capped the scoring with consecutive layups in the final minute, bringing the Ichabod's total to 101 points.

Claussen led the team with 22 points and 13 rebounds, converting seven of ten field goal attempts. Bachelor followed with 25 points, including five three-pointers, and added six assists. Jones contributed 13 points and a standout eight steals, while also recording five assists. Christiansen added 10 points and collected nine rebounds.

Charlie McBeath led Augusta with 19 points, including seven field goals and two blocks, showing his ability to contribute both offensively and defensively. Oliver Lucas was perfect from the field, scoring eight points on 3-for-3 shooting and adding two blocks. Matias Zanotto contributed eight points, with two successful three-pointers and four assists, while also blocking two shots. Kyndon Wilburg provided defensive stability with two steals and four rebounds.
