John DiBenedetto

  • Title
    Assistant Baseball Coach/Head JV Coach
John DiBenedetto joined the Florida Southern College baseball program as an assistant coach, as well as the JV head coach to start the 2022 season.

With the most wins in JV baseball history, DiBenedetto led the Mocs to an 11-7 record, with several athletes being called up to varsity to make NCAA collegiate appearances. In addition to leading the JV program, DiBenedetto assisted the varsity coaching staff working primarily with the outfielders, which saw CF Nathan Chevalier being named to the 2022 All-SSC Defensive Team with a perfect fielding percentage. Success by outfielders continued in 2022 with an NCBWA All-South Region Honorable Mention honor by outfielder Duncan Hunter.

During the summer of 2022, DiBenedetto was the head coach of the St. Pete Tide of the Florida Gulf Coast Summer League, where he led the Tide to a Northern Division Championship.

Prior to joining the Mocs, DiBenedetto started his coaching career as an assistant varsity coach at Carrollwood Day School for two seasons that sent the team to their first ever Regionals appearance. While at Carrollwood, he was also an assistant coach in the Florida Summer Collegiate League.

To start his head coaching career, DiBenedetto rebuilt the baseball program at Academy at the Lakes for three seasons to win 27 games in three years. The program also had their first ever college commit during his tenure. After his successful time at the Academy, he was the head coach for Brandon High School for three years. A strong program culminated in a Regional berth in his last season. While at Brandon, DiBenedetto coached nine college commits, 3 FACA All-State players, and six All-Conference players.

A travel ball coach with the Hit Factory and FTB led to three difference championships during two summers before coming to Lakeland.
