Shawn Kahre joined the Moccasin baseball coaching staff in September, 2020, as an assistant coach.

Kahre comes to Lakeland from Vincennes, Ind., where he was coaching at Vincennes Lincoln High School in Vincennes, Ind. Prior to that, he had coached at Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College (2018-2019), with the Wisconsin Woodchucks of the Northwoods League (2018), and at Vincennes University (2017-2018).

He also has served as an Associate Scout for the Texas Rangers, scouting largely in the Midwest.

Kahre began his college playing career as an outfielder at Vincennes (IN) University, where he earned his Associates Degree in 2013. In those two years, he played in 37 games, batting .278, with 12 RBI. From there, he moved on to Kentucky Wesleyan, where he made the jump to the mound. In two years in Owensboro, he appeared in 13 games, all in relief, hurling 19.1 innings. He posted a 1-0 record, with one save. At KWC, he earned his degree in fitness and sports management. Upon graduation, Kahre played one season in Pecos League for the Whitesands Pupfish.

Born in Tsukuba-shi, Ibaraki, Japan, he is the son of Stephen and Kimiko Kahre, He has one brother, Ken, and a chocolate lab, Gypsy.
