Steven Crabtree joined the Moccasins as an assistant coach prior to the 2017 season and also serves as the recruiting coordinator. He was named the Associate Head Coach prior to the 2024 season. Crabtree is Florida Southern's hitting coach and also works with the infielders. During his time at Florida Southern, Crabtree has helped coach and develop five NCBWA All-American, 10 ABCA All-Region selections, two NCBWA All-Region selections, and 22 All-SSC hitters/position players, including the 2021 SSC Player of the Year, Vaun Brown.

Under his guidance, the Florida Southern offense slugged a school-record 81 home runs in 2017 and followed that up with 79 the following season. Logan Browning hit .440 in 2018, the fourth-best single-season mark in program history, while Hayden Marze hit a school-record 22 homers the same year. As a team, the Moccasins have hit better than .300 in two of Crabtree's three seasons with the team. During the 2022 season, the Mocs led the SSC in home runs, with 59 going deep and the most by FSC since 2018. The following year in 2023, FSC again led the conference in homers, with an incredible 77 deep and top 20 among NCAA Division II for total home runs and home runs per game.

Defensively, Southern set a school record in 2018 with a fielding percentage of .976 and followed that up with the second-best single-season fielding percentage in school history (.973) in 2019. Crabtree has been part of a staff that led Florida Southern to an NCAA South Region Championship in 2018 and a third-place showing at the NCAA Division II National Championship that year. In the 2024 season, two Moccasins were named to the All-Defensive Team under Crabtree's guidance, who both (Rohsean Riley, El'Rico Riley) named to the ABCA South Region All-Defensive Team and El'Rico Riley the program's first ABCA Gold Glove winner since 2015.

Prior to his time with the Moccasins, Crabtree spent two seasons at Sunshine State Conference rival Rollins where he helped develop a pair of All-SSC honorees, including all-region selection Christian Coburn. He also coached three CoSIDA Academic All-District selections.

Crabtree joined Rollins after spending time as a graduate assistant coach at Nyack College (N.Y.) and Webber International. He was the interim head coach for one season at Freedom High School and an assistant coach in the Florida Collegiate Summer and New England Collegiate Baseball Leagues. Crabtree was also a Triple-A hitting coach for Phil Clark's USSSA Travel Teams.

A Florida Native, Crabtree was a standout infielder at Navarre High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida and holds a masters degree from Nyack College.

Crabtree and his wife, Teresa, have one daughter, Marisa.
