2014 (Junior year at Florida Southern): Sunshine State Conference Player-of-the-Week for February 23… NCAA Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… 2013 (Sophomore year at Seminole State): FCSAA Second Team All-State… First Team All-Mid Florida Conference… Academic All-State and All-Conference … Atlantic District and FCSAA All-Tournament Team… Team MVP at Seminole State and the school’s Female Athlete-of-the-Year… 2012 (Freshman Year at Seminole State): NFCA Scholar All-American… Academic All-State and All-Conference.
Returning starter at first base base… Before coming to Florida Southern, had a 2-year junior college career for head coach Courtney Miller at Seminole State... Helped the Raiders win the 2012 FCSAA State Championship and advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in St. George, Utah… Saw Seminole State win 79 games in her career as a 2-year starter.
JUNIOR SEASON HIGHLIGHTS (2014)
* One of four players to start all 44 games, with all of them coming at first base… Played all but one inning for the Mocs defensively… Florida Southern’s cleanup hitter for most of the season, but also batted third (five games) and fifth (four games)
* Florida Southern’s leading hitter with a .353 batting average that ranked seventh in the Sunshine State Conference… Also led Florida Southern in on-base percentage (.420), slugging (.432), hits (49), doubles (11), extra-base hits (11), and RBI (20)… Second on the team with 14 walks, two of which were intentional (both intentional walks came in the same 15-inning game against Eckerd)… In addition to her seventh-place ranking in batting average, was also tied for fourth in the SSC in doubles
* Her .992 fielding percentage was second in the SSC among all first basemen with at least 100 chances (Barry’s Julie Brito had a .993 percentage, both players had only two errors)
* Began her Florida Southern career with a 16-game hitting streak that was the longest for any player in the Sunshine State Conference in 2014, and the longest in team history for a player at the start of her career… Hit .472 (25-for-53) during her 16-game hitting streak with a .500 on-base percentage
* In Florida Southern’s 22 home games, hit a team-high .456 (31-for-68) at Barnett Field where she had eight of her 11 doubles
* Was the only Moccasin to hit safely in all eight conference series, with her best series coming against Barry (4-for-8 with two walks, a double and two RBI) and Rollins (4-for-9)
* Had 11 multi-hit games (third on the team), three games with at least three hits, and one with four (went 4-for-4 in 12-4 win over Western Ontario on Feb. 21)… Had three different doubleheaders with at least four hits, and was 6-for-7 against Western Ontario
* Had a team-high six games with two or more RBI, with a season-high four in the 12-4 win over Western Ontario, the same game in which she had four hits (first Moccasin in six years to have a game with four hits and four RBI)
* Reached base safely in eight consecutive plate appearances (six hits and two walks) in a 2-game stretch against Western Ontario and Barry
* Singled, had her only stolen base of the season, and scored the only run of the game in the Mocs’ 1-0 win at Saint Leo (April 17)
* Doubled and scored the winning run in Florida Southern’s 4-3, 9-inning victory over Georgia Southwestern (March 19)
* In a 5-4, 15-inning win over Eckerd, had two hits and two walks in extra innings (April 25)
In junior college (2012-13)… Led the Raiders, who went 34-25, in hitting as a sophomore with a .401 batting average (61-for-152), and had 13 doubles, one home run, and a team-high 35 RBI… Also had a .419 on-base percentage and struck out only four times in her 152 at-bats… Hit .267 as a freshman with seven doubles and 14 RBI, helping the Raiders finish 45-21-1… After becoming a full-time starter, hit .295 in conference play for the Raiders… Committed only one error in 155 chances over the course of the season.
In high school… Spent two years at Braddock High School in Miami before graduating from Florida Christian School in 2011… Second Team All-Dade County as a senior… Academic honor roll student all throughout her high school career… Played her travel ball for the Miami Stingrays (coached by Gator Rebhan) and the Miami Wildcats (coached by George Sarradet)… Personal… Daughter of Aimee Secades and Alberto Gonzalez… Has one older brother (Adrian-25)… Born 11/18/92… Member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Florida Southern… Business Administration major with a minor in Spanish.
