Nate Champion

Nate Champion is in his second season as an assistant coach for Florida Southern men's basketball. He joined the Moccasins after spending one year as a volunteer assistant at Stonehill College. In his only season with the Moccasins, Champion helped coach a squad that finished 21-11, upset top-seeded Morehouse in the NCAA South Regional and averaged 88.4 points per game - the eighth-best scoring offense in the nation. Florida Southern also ended the season with a pair of all-Sunshine State Conference selections and an NABC all-district honoree in Jonathan Lawton.

In 2016-17, Champion helped coach a Stonehill squad that produced three all-conference players, including one first team all-NE10 selection and two all-rookie honorees. Senior Ryan Logan earned NABC all-district honors after leading the Skyhawks in scoring (17.8 points per game).

Prior to his time at Stonehill, Champion played professionally for the Ringwood Hawks of the Australia-State League. He was named Co-MVP and championship series MVP while playing overseas.

Before signing to play in the pro ranks Champion served as a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Le Moyne College. He coached the first 13 games with the Dolphins in 2014 before heading to Australia.

A 2014 graduate of Le Moyne with a degree in business management and leadership, Champion was a four-year starter for the Dolphins. He played in 100 career games and made 93 starts while averaging 12.6 points per game.

As a senior, he averaged a career-best and team-leading 16.3 points per game including a career-best 35 points against Saint Rose. He earned all-NE10 honors and helped lead the Dolphins to an appearance in the NCAA East Regional quarterfinals.
