Kayla Wetzel

Kayla Wetzel joined Florida Southern College as an assistant athletic trainer in the fall of 2021. She was promoted to associate athletic trainer in fall of 2023. Her sport assignments include men's soccer, ice hockey, and men’s tennis. Previously, she has also worked with the women’s basketball, cross country, and swim programs at Florida Southern.
 
Prior to moving to Florida from Wisconsin in 2021, Kayla began her career as an intern athletic trainer at University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. She primarily worked with their volleyball, cross country, women’s ice hockey, and softball teams. During her time there, she assisted the volleyball team to a final four finish in the 2018 season and three consecutive regional appearances with their women’s ice hockey program. 
 
Kayla earned her master’s degree in athletic training and bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from Concorida University Wisconsin in May 2018. She was part of the first cohort for the master’s program at the university and within the state of Wisconsin. During her program years, Kayla spent time with a variety of sports, including soccer, hockey, softball, triathlon, & roller derby.
  
Kayla has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) since 2018. She is a licensed athletic trainer by the Florida Board of Athletic Training and is nationally certified through the BOC. She was previously licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.

Kayla was born & raised in Machesney Park Illinois, just 30 minutes from the Wisconsin boarder. In her free time, Kayla enjoys working out, petting dogs, and spending time with her cat. She currently resides in Lakeland.
