Marti Littlefield

Marti Littlefield joined the Florida Southern College softball coaching staff ahead of the 2022 season, bringing with her a championship pedigree and one of the most decorated playing careers in Gulf South Conference history.

Littlefield was inducted into the Gulf South Conference Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Valdosta State University Hall of Fame in 2019, solidifying her legacy as one of the league’s all-time greats. A standout shortstop at Valdosta State, she helped guide the Blazers to an incredible 207-33 record during her career, capturing four consecutive GSC Championships and two NCAA Division II South Regional titles. Her career culminated in the program’s first and only NCAA Division II National Championship in 2012.

A three-time All-American, Littlefield was named the GSC Freshman of the Year in 2009 after rewriting the conference record books with 103 RBIs, the most in a single season in GSC history, and 25 home runs, the second-most in a single season. She earned four consecutive First Team All-GSC honors and was a three-time GSC All-Academic selection from 2010-12. Her name still ranks among the conference’s all-time leaders, including second in career doubles (65), third in total bases (525), and fifth in career home runs (56). In 2012, she was named VSU Female Athlete of the Year.

Beyond the field, Littlefield dedicated more than 130 hours to community service and was recognized as the VSU Community Service Leader in 2011.

Littlefield transitioned into coaching immediately following her playing career, serving as an assistant coach at Valdosta State (2012-14), where she was part of a coaching staff that received the Coaching Staff of the Year award. She later held assistant coaching positions at Young Harris (2014-15) and Northwest Florida State College (2015-18), again earning Coaching Staff of the Year recognition. She then served as head coach at St. John’s River State College from 2018-21 before joining Florida Southern, where she continues to help develop the next generation of Moccasins.
