Returning starter in right field who transfer last year from Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee where she played for head coach Vickee Hollifield as a freshman… Has now played for two hall of fame coaches at the Division II level who have amassed over 1,000 wins in their respective careers with Florida Southern head coach Chris Bellotto ranking third on the all-time D-II list coming into 2018, and Hollifield ranking sixth.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017)
HONORS: Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Made 29 starts, all of them in the final 35 games of the season, with all 29 coming right field and improved on all of her numbers from Carson-Newman across the board… Hit .308 (8-for-26) with runners in scoring position… Best conference series came against Florida Tech where she went 3-for-9 (.333) with a double and one RBI… Had four multi-hit games, including a career-best 3-for-5 performance in her second start, a 10-inning 4-1 win at Eckerd (Feb. 17)… Had a 2-out, 2-run single in the top of the 10th inning in that Eckerd game to blow it open… Also had a game with two walks in a 9-6 win at Tampa in which she scored three of the nine runs (April 29)… Helped the Moccasins set a new school record with only two outfield errors as a team throughout the season.
At Carson-Newman (2016)… Started 36 of her 44 games as a freshman, helping the Eagles to a 30-21 record… Started all 22 conference games… Picked up 17 hits, including two doubles, had two RBI and 16 runs scored… Also walked nine times and stole three bases in four attempts… In the field had 30 putouts, one assist and two errors… Best outing of the season came in a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader sweep at Newberry where she went 3-for-6 with a walk, stolen base and three runs scored (April 3)… Had nine of her 17 hits and four of her nine walks in the month of April, a stretch where she also played errorless ball in the outfield.
In high school… Graduated from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando where she played softball for head coach Danielle Perrotti… After winning MVP honors for the JV team as a freshman, was selected as Dr. Phillips’ rookie-of-the-year as a sophomore and broke the school RBI record as a junior… Hit .426 in her high school career… National Honor Society member… Also a member of the weightlifting team for two years… Played three years of travel ball for the Central Florida Sting and coach Dave Occhialini… Has two former teammates playing for Stetson University and Hampton University… Personal… Daughter of Kevin and Dominique Ryan… Has three older brothers (Kevin, Brendan and Patrick), with Patrick a former college athlete at the NCAA Division II level after playing hockey at Assumption College in Massachusetts… Favorite pro sports teams are the New York Mets, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Lightning.
