Megan Dzikas was promoted to head coach of the Florida Southern College women’s basketball program in January 2023 after serving as interim head coach to open the 2022-23 season.
In her first two seasons leading the Moccasins, Dzikas has guided the team to back-to-back Sunshine State Conference Tournament appearances with wins over nationally ranked opponents. Under her leadership, the Mocs made history as the first team in both program and SSC history to defeat the tournament’s top seed as a lower seed.
During her fourth season as the head coach, Dzikas had the best season in her time at Florida Southern, leading the Mocs to a 23-8 overall record and an NCAA appearance. The Mocs upset No. 9 Nova Southeastern on Senior Night to end the regular season, carrying that momentum into the conference tournament and a championship game appearance. The Mocs had two all-conference winners, including SSC Player of the Year and later WBCA All-American, Sydney Gomes.
During her tenure, Dzikas has continued to develop top talent within the program, coaching standout players such as Sydney Gomes and Ashley Shell, who each earned All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team honors under her direction.
Before taking over as head coach, Dzikas served as an assistant coach for the Moccasins from 2019–2022. In her first season on staff, Florida Southern advanced to the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament, continuing the program’s long tradition of postseason success. She also helped mentor several standout student-athletes who went on to achieve major accolades and professional careers. Among them was Whitney Jacobs, who went on to play professionally for Clube Galitos Aveiro in Portugal. During the 2021-22 season, Dzikas coached Sara Wohlegemuth, the SSC Freshman of the Year, and Jacobs, the SSC Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference selection. She also worked closely with three-time All-SSC First Team honoree Julia Jenike during her tenure as an assistant.
Prior to returning to Lakeland, Dzikas spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Saint Leo University, where she helped revitalize the Lions’ program and mentored All-SSC First Team selection Chelsey Springs. Before that, she served as both assistant and head coach at St. Catharine College (Ky.) and began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Goucher College in Maryland.
A two-time All-Sunshine State Conference selection and the 2008-09 SSC Freshman of the Year, Dzikas was one of the most prolific guards in Florida Southern history. She finished her career with 1,368 points (12th in program history) and ranks second all-time in assists (515), while also placing among the program’s top five in three-pointers made, attempted, and three-point percentage.
