Chris Keen was named as the fourth head coach in Florida Southern volleyball history on January 16, 2018, after five ultra-successful years as an assistant and associate head coach with the Moccasins. Keen joined the Moccasins in 2013 as an assistant coach and was promoted to associate head coach a year later. He was a part of one of the most prolific runs in program history when Florida Southern won 23-straight matches en route to an NCAA Division II national runner-up finish in 2017.
In his one year at the helm for the Moccasins, Keen has guided the program to an NCAA South Region Semifinal as well as developed three AVCA All-Americans, an AVCA South Region Player of the Year, three AVCA All-South selections, an SSC Player of the Year, and two All-SSC selections.
Over the next three years, the Mocs battled COVID-19 shortened seasons but continued success on and off the court. During the 2021 season, Keen led the Mocs with a few 3+ game win streaks to push Florida Southern in a close bid for an NCAA regional appearance but just short. A strong emphasis on defense in the 2021 season showed as Keen helped lead three selections to the All-SSC team with two on the Second Team and another named as Honorable Mention. The same season also saw Keen's first athlete selections on SSC Defensive Player of the Week, with three nods during the year.Â
