Mocs & Rollins Finish In A Tie

There weren't any new school records for the Moccasins in Saturday's dual meet with Rollins, but there was a first of a different kind.  The Moccasins and Tars finished in a tie, 128-128, marking FSC's first-ever tie in a swimming meet.

The meet was as close as the final score indicated, as each team won seven events.  With two events remaining, the Moccasins were up 112-108.  In the next-to-last event, the 200-yard individual medley, Rollins got a win from Jackson Nicholson by three-tenths of a second over FSC's Dan Naherny and scored a total of 14 points in the event to FSC's five.  Trailing by five points going to the final event, the Moccasins won the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of John Sevier, Alex Peterson, Kelly Dorian and Greg Gorman turning in a time of 1:29.08 to allow the Moccasins to pull even.

Bruce Janzen won a pair of events for FSC, taking the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.78) and the 100-yard butterfly (52.83).  He swam leadoff on the winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:39.95) and was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.76).

The Moccasins' other event winners were Sevier in the 50-yard freestyle (21.71), Peterson in the 100-yard freestyle (49.01) and Naherny in the 200-yard backstroke (2:01.33).

The next competition for the Moccasins will be the Savannah College of Art & Design Invitational Dec. 3-5 in Savannah, Ga.
