West Florida's Greg Pron delivered a two-out RBI-single in the bottom of the 15th to down the Moccasins 7-6 in the first game of FSC's weekend series at St. Augustine Saturday.
Pron had scored in the bottom of the ninth on Zach Cates' RBI-single to tie the game at 6-6. The two teams then battled through five scoreless extra innings before the Argonauts scored the game-winner in the 15th.
The Moccasins scored five runs in the first three innings to grab a 5-0 lead, but the Argonauts scored five in the next three innings to tie the game. Colin Kaline singled home Colin Kish with two outs in the top of the eighth to give the Moccasins a 6-5 lead before the Argonauts tied it in the ninth.
The Moccasins had a chance to take the lead in the 11th when Nick Stanley produced a single to left, but Trae Gore was cut down at the plate on a throw from Kroll to end the inning.
The Moccasins had 14 hits in the game, three by Gore, but left 13 men stranded and struck out a school-record 19 times.
Max Russell started on the mound and worked the first five innings, striking out six. Daniel Tillman pitched six-and-a-third innings in relief. Ryan Wolfe, who came on in the 14th, took the loss. John Church went eight innings in relief for West Florida and struck out 12, but Sixto Velasco picked up the win after working the top of the 15th.
