LAKELAND - Ashley Hungerford and Amanda Carns posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in their respective singles matches, and both players were also easy victors in doubles play as #17 Florida Southern blanked Saint Leo 9-0 on Tuesday.
The Moccasins (12-3, 3-2) got the early jump with an 8-2 win by Hungerford and Senka Softic at the top doubles position before Carns and Nora Baertschi made it 2-0 with their 8-1 victory in the third doubles slot. Erin Conroy and Veronika Kovacikova had little trouble either, winning their match 8-4.
Once into singles play, Hungerford closed out her match first, followed quikly by Softic, who posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory in #1 singles to clinch the match. It improved Softic's record to 14-1 on the season.
Florida Southern will face #12 Northwood (MI) in its next match on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
