Box Score 2 The top-ranked Moccasins extended their current winning streak to nine straight games with a doubleheader sweep of Saint Leo, 7-5 and 8-4, Saturday at Saint Leo.
With the sweep of the three-game Sunshine State Conference series, the Moccasins improved to 28-5 overall and 8-1 in the SSC. Saint Leo dropped to 13-23, 4-8 in the SSC.
In Saturday's first game, Trae Gore's three-run homer, one of his four hits in the game, in the fifth inning broke a 4-4 tie and put FSC in front for good. Stephen Batman pitched the first seven innings and picked up his seventh win in eight decisions. Daniel Tillman worked the ninth inning and recorded his eighth save of the season.
In the second game, Wade Kirkland's sacrifice fly scored Colin Kaline with the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh, then Nick Stanley added some insurance with a three-run homer. Zach Maggard also homered in the game.
Ryan Wolfe, the fourth of five Moccasins pitchers used in the game, retired all four batters he faced and got the win to improve his record to 2-1.
The Moccasins play Eckerd Friday at 7 p.m. at Henley Field.
