The Moccasins made their debut in the Deep South Conference Wednesday night, but it was spoiled by Wingate, as the Bulldogs claimed a 12-6 victory over the Moccasins at Bryant Stadium.

 With the win, Wingate improved to 1-4 overall, 1-1 in the DSC. Wingate scored three first period goals and never gave up the lead. The Bulldogs led 7-2 at halftime. Cason Heckle scored the second of his team-high three goals with 9:12 left in the third period to trim Wingate's lead to 8-4, but the Moccasins could not get any closer.

The Moccasins had 12 extra-man opportunities, but were able to convert on only one of them, while Wingate went three-for-six in extra man chances. Max Whipple won 17 of 21 face-offs and Andrew Almansberger had six saves for the Moccasins.

 The Moccasins (0-2, 0-1 DSC) return to action Friday night at 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium against Grand Canyon University.
